Elaine reports on a very long and uncomfortable walk.
Hi, it’s Elaine from Mind and Voices in York, sorry about the last bit.
On Tuesday, we went to, Eric and I, went to look for a scooter, a mobility scooter just outside Selby and they didn’t have any.
So walking back, we decided not to go to the bus stop we got off but to go to another one, which was horrendous, trying to walk curbside with a walker is terrible.
Anyway walking back, walking down a woman stopped us and asked if
“we were alright,” no, she asked us if “we wanted to cross the road”?
We said “no” because we’d stopped, so she went off and we started walking again and then another woman stopped asked if “we were alright and did we know where we were going” and we said “yes” and then we started walking again.
We were on the A19 from Selby which is a horrendous road. I was walking on the edge with my walker, edge of the road, and as we got a bit nearer we could see the bus stop in sight.
And this police car came crashing down on the opposite side, something was happening somewhere, never felt so mad about it.
We kept on walking and then we got to the bus stop. By this time, the police car rolled up asking us “where we going” and “did we walk this route often” and we said “no” and “we won’t be walking it again either”.
It was right funny, but thinking about it afterwards, it was very… we were stupid, ok, I just thought I’d let you know
Bye for now
