Keith has delivered a great presentation to medical students.

Hi, It’s Keith here from the Isle of Sheppey in Kent.
I had an invite from the Royal Society of medicine to go to Dartford and address some fourth year students about what living – what it’s like to live with Dementia.
I was able to talk about the difficulties I’ve come up against. I talked about the receptionist when trying to book an appointment to see the doctor and it would be a great item there if they had tags on our notes so that they know we have Dementia and therefore sometimes we might need an extra appointment.
I was able to talk and tell them about the doctors, they need to allow people to just talk about the reason they went to the doctor’s in the first place and I was able to tell them that once you go on an appointment, the doctor looks at his watch and tells you you’ve only got left one minute and it’s very frustrating.
I was able to say a lot of people, including some GPs, they go through their life thinking that Dementia is only a memory thing. I was able to say, “Yes, it is a memory problem but that was just the tip of the iceberg”, I was able to talk about how it can affect your senses, your behaviour, your character.
It was taken all in good faith and they were very appreciative and said it definitely – that it was good and they were very welcoming.
I had to address a group of Psychologists later in the month and I also had an invite to address a gathering of OTs, so things are moving on. I just feel, I feel that I am giving something to help other people in the future who have Dementia. As I say, we are the voice of Dementia, what we can use it, use it wisely.
Ok, thank you, bye.
