George talks about the importance of the Dementia Enquirers project

Hello, it’s George in North Shropshire – again.
Just wanted to record something about a really good Zoom meeting that was held yesterday. Zoom is a sort of Webinar tool and it was about Dementia Enquirers and it was basically a number of us who are involved in leading or working in some of the Dementia Enquirer research projects and we talked about all sorts of things but …. one of the key things that came out of it was that people doing the research really are gaining skills and confidence that they had lost since their diagnosis, it’s – and it’s – and we were asking questions that researchers traditionally don’t ask. We’re looking at areas of living that researchers don’t usually look at, so we all really feel that the Dementia Enquirers projects are a fantastic way forward for empowerment and also to actually find stuff out that can change life for us, people with Dementia and, for that matter, for Carers, of course.
So, do look out for anything you see on Dementia Enquirers research, all the data that we find out, the projects will be published later this year, no doubt and there will – before long there will be a new round of bidding for more applications for the next, second round of Dementia Enquirers research project.
So I do urge you, if you live with Dementia, if you are part of a DEEP group in particular, do have a look at that when it comes out, keep an eye on the DEEP site, the DEEP website and see if you can, see if there’s something that you want to find out about or your group wants to find out about and that could change the way we people with Dementia live our lives. It might be transport, it might be – I don’t know – eating out, it might be health care or it might be – it will be something from the point of view – looking at something from the point of view of people with Dementia.
So, I think that’s enough from me for now. Have a look out for that, I’ll speak to you again soon.
Bye.
