Stephen reports what appears to be a clear case of unlawful discrimination.
Yeah, I wanted to open up a bank account, a small bank account in my name because I go out with my carer once a week, cos everything these days is paid by card isn`t it at the moment so it would have been nice to have done that and have a card to pay for stuff.
So I rung up Barclays bank and they simply refused to give me one. The reason was I have a dementia diagnosis and I think that is totally wrong. That really upset me that did. There was no why`s and where for`s he just said no they can`t do it. I said I got full capacity and they still wouldn`t do it.
Yeah it`s a bit upsetting when things like that happen, you know, it does. There you go, what can you do. I had lots of people come back to me, dementia friends saying it`s totally wrong, it`s discrimination.
Yeah I thought I`d just better say that and let people know what exactly is going on.
Yeah it`s not good is it?
