Keith considers the issue of loyalty in this wonderful diary.

Hello Dementia Diaries, it’s  great to have you back with us all. This is Keith Oliver here dialling in from Canterbury.

What I`d like to talk about today is very close to my heart which is the word loyalty and what that means , and when I say loyalty I mean loyalty by way of connections with friends and family, by way of connections with a cause, by way of connections with a group and by connection to a football team.
I`ll return to the group in a moment.
When one is loyal to any of those categories I`ve just mentioned there`s often many highs and lows, and the highs bring rich reward and for me an example of that being my connection to my football team, Nottingham Forest, a team I`ve supported through many highs and lows since 1963 when first going to watch them with my father. I have been to Madrid, Zurich ,the South of France, seen them in 2 European Cup finals and also seen them in the third division (or division 1 as it`s now called),and it`s great to see them promoted to the premier league.
It`s quite emotional really and surprisingly so, I guess that`s the dementia causing these flood of emotions, but it`s great to see something by way of loyalty being succeeded and rewarded. Same with the group, this afternoon
I will be going to my Forget me not Group that I attend in Canterbury which I set up 10 years ago. Sometimes I wonder why am I coming here, what’s the purpose, but a good driver it a sense of loyalty to the group but also to individuals who attend.
