Wayne talks, in Part 2, about how noise now bothers and exhausts him – especially coffee machines!
Okay diary it’s Wayne again and, mm, just thought I would carry on with this, um, diary about sensory issues that I wanted to, to get around to and then got rudely interrupted by lots of loud noise. Um, yeah, well, what I wanted to say about is obviously, just like anybody else with dementia, I suppose loud noises and. and people approaching you, or touching you or whatever, particularly from the rear or from the side where you don’t see them coming, has always been bit of an issue and just, and, and disturbing, but things have slowly got worse and worse as time has gone on and not only, now is it quite extreme that noises that used to kind of merge or blend into the background and not really be noticed, like the sound of a coffee machine in the, in the coffee shop, and it’s a big, it’s a big coffee shop. I mean, it’s not some tiny little thing and sit as far away as possible, but the noise is absolutely extreme. And I don’t know whether they’re made these days just to make a load of noise to attract people’s attention. you know, some sort of sales pitch or whatever but I so noisy. I’ve got a coffee machine home. Not the same as in the, um, the, the the coffee shop, the cafe obviously, but it doesn’t make loads of noise. It’s quite quiet. I don’t understand why I have to make these things so loud. And that means that everybody in there has to talk louder and louder and make more and more noise and volume goes up and up, and up, and and the big change not only I’m more affected by the noise now but it’s draining. It’s tiring. It really is. I had to leave the cafe today after only an hour and a quarter. I couldn’t stay any longer, I was struggling, I was starting to reach the point where I thought, if I don’t leave, I’m not gonna, um, I’m not gonna be safe trying to get home.
So, um, I had to I had to leave. It was it’s just just It’s not good and the same with visuals. Too much moving too many people moving around and things like that and and it’s tiring really, really tiring. So although today was a beautiful sunny day and while I was out by the river, it was lovely till the noise came along the day soon degenerated into a noisy troublesome day and and now I’m just like really really wiped out tired.
I will be doing another diary very very soon because I want to talk about sort of physical side rather than just the sensory side. See you later.
