“Just like to give you an update on the latest”

Morning.

Just like to give you an update on the latest on the back to work assessments. I’ve had a letter today, an email, from the Alzheimer’s Society. It says:

“They are aware of the issue, and have tried to make steps towards improving the situation.”

In this case, the policies team were not able to support a campaign around this. Should have to be strict about it, they should prioritise in order to make the most impact. They have had contact with the government before, and have got nowhere. So I would of thought if it got nowhere, that means carry on.

What we should do is carry on with the deep theme, and we’ll take the campaign forward and hopefully we’ll get a decision at the end, even if it results in an extension. Whether it’s people being assessed every one to two years, maybe people with dementia will be five years, but my aim is to not have anybody with dementia to be assessed whatsoever. If you’ve got dementia, we know there’s no cure, so we’re told, and that’s the case and we shouldn’t be put through the stress and strain, because we’re not meant to work, and they know this.

I’ll keep you informed, and hopefully we’ll have some news in the near future.
