“Quite a lot going on! By the time I get home I’m usually really tired”
– Gina Shaw
Hello it’s Gina from Liverpool, sorry I haven’t been in touch for a while, but it’s been a busy time. But this weekend I’ve just got back from London and attended a meeting there with a few other people living with dementia, and they’ve got lots of exciting ideas that they are looking forward to sharing with us, and they took a photograph of those of us that were there. Not entirely sure what they’re going do with it, but lots of different things going on. It looks like they’re going to start a new push for helping people with dementia. And also signed up for the dementia walk that’s happening in Liverpool this year, and were trying to get sponsorships as well. We are in Liverpool, we are starting work looking at the possibility of us having a conference in Liverpool, probably towards the end of the year because it’s going to take a look of organising. but hopefully people from On Our Radar will be able to attend. Hope so, we’ll obviously keep you informed about that, we’ve got a discussion about it at our service users forum next week, and I think that will be quite critical as to whether that goes ahead or not, but we have actually started looking at ways of being able to take that forward. We’re still meeting regularly and keeping very busy, and getting new members unfortunately some members have stopped coming as well, that’s the way it goes as not everybody can always make it. We’ve also strengthened our position I think in Liverpool at the moment and we are sort of known fairly well now in the areas that need to know about us. And we’ve got a few interesting projects coming up which are involving working with other groups. There’s one called “the flock” (sic) where we’re going to try in a couple of days time and hopefully i can tell you more about that once I’ve been. And of course some I must have already told you but we are working on doing the play in conjunction with the Everyman theatre in Liverpool. And the play is a light hearted attempt at trying to educate people about dementia. So quite a lot going on, and that’s probably why I haven’t kept you up to date, because everything’s sort of happening one after another and by the time I get home I’m usually really tired. But I will try to keep you up to date with everything that’s going on around here as much as possible and as soon as we know what’s going on. That’s all for now thanks a lot, bye.
