Wayne makes his first brilliant diary recording from MemoryBilia

Hiya its Wayne at Memorybilia , last month seemed less busy than usual and we lost a whole working week due to the snow, but as I checked back through the online calendar the sections soon filled up the biggest problem apart from the weather, ongoing issues with the DWP and their complete denial of the long term effects essentially with dementia. My ongoing 18 month battle over ( PIP ) which I do get but probably due to being young onset and working age I have to really prove that every four months that I haven’t suddenly got better, despite having a court order that proves it at least until January 2019, my efforts to get Claim navigators or Age UK to fight on my behalf has failed at every turn, the same applies to the ongoing Universal Credit which I have been trying to get a head start on, so that I will be able to help others of working age living with dementia that can’t get any help from any other agency’s, but the website that you have to go to isn’t much help except for to confuse, you have to verify yourself so when your finally called for an interview the interview will only take twenty five minutes instead of an hour and a half, I don’t know what on earth they think they are going to find to talk about for an hour and a half when they have got computer systems that tell them everything they need to know about us anyway , so I looked in the mirror to verify who I am but apparently that’s not good enough “laughter ” so I went on to their website and I tried to use Barclays, which is one of their options to verify me , I have been a Barclays customer for over forty years so they should know me, I was asked if I had a driving licence or passport, I used to have a driving licence but not any more due to the dementia so I selected the passport option entered all my details, and then after I had done all of that it asked for my driving licence number which I didn’t have, and then it booted me off the website until I got it, I don’t know how I’m supposed to get it but there you go . Another attack on the government was to try and find out, and get a handle on Help the Aged and specifically about historic refunds for people that haven’t already done them, and despite me being fairly good with technology again I just came away confused and frustrated by their cumbersome website . This month I appeared on page one of the Wellcome Foundations annual report about dementia, with a quote to do with living well with dementia. Carried out monthly staff dementia training in Medway Hospital assisted Midway Council with dementia friendly advice for their community information booklet . Attend a steering group for Midway Community Health for part of a stay project which is a UK /National and free other European countries that are all working co- operatively to try and create dementia communities and housing schemes . With Lorraine we wrote her new legacy speech attending the DEEP Memorybilia event meeting ,and then a sight visit at St Georges and then wrote a report about the visit . Went to the Peer group, Three Dementia Caps, at one of them we had an interview with an NHS student to try and help with his understanding of dementia . I started the process to get a sit down with the Reba busses scheduler to voice our rather major grievance’s about their schedule. Been asked to be part the team to help design the new Alzheimer’s Society training courses ,also to provide recourses for Cathedral Memory Tree and to help xxx DAA to create dementia friendly training and courses for the companies in the Swell area. I was nearly the dementia Rep on a first aid course but that got snowed off so I still can’t do first aid . And I am preparing an acquaintance to give a two hour talk to university students at the university of Kent, that are taking a social work degree course, however the meeting although long and fun and exciting was a bit unclear when it came to the outcome of what’s actually required and what’s of many meetings will need another meeting to follow up that meeting, hopefully it will become clearer later.
Thank you very much.
Bye .
