The Great Camden Minds DEEP Group say hello to Dementia Diaries and what they enjoy about the group
Jill: Hi Dementia Diaries, this is Jill and I’m with the Great Camden Minds Deep Group. We’re having our monthly meeting today on Friday 16 March. I’m with Elizabeth Ann, Will, Douglas, Hugh, Lily and John, and we’ve got some guests here today as well: Rachel, Ann (from Dementia Voices) and Ashley (who’s doing a project with Age UK Camden) and Tracey, from Age UK Camden. How’s everybody doing?
Woman: I like coming to Deep because we do quite interesting research and it makes us feel that we’re not useless now that we haven’t got 100% of our faculties.
Will: What I enjoy most is the company. And particularly the three pretty girls!

Jill: Thank you Will! Douglas, do you want to say something?
Douglas: I feel it helps sometimes with concentration which may be part of the problem that I have with the whole of this thing with dementia… I don’t know. It seems sometimes that… [indistinguishable] okay?
Man: [Indistinguishable] The thing that really gets me is that when I get excited the words won’t come out and it starts [words missing] and it’s quite embarrassing, really.
Jill: Thank you very much, thank you. Lily?
Lily: My name’s Lily. I enjoy coming here and meeting all the friends I have here. And we discuss whatever [indistinguishable].
Jill: Thank you Lily
John: Hello, I’m John and I think I agree with everybody else; I mean one of the things that we enjoy is meeting each other and the company and having a chat and some of it’s in depth and really helpful. I think that one of the things that it shows is that just because you’ve got dementia and doesn’t mean to say that near the end of your life you can’t have a laugh and be sociable.
Jill: So that’s the group… I’m not sure how much longer we’ve got on here, so we just wanted to introduce ourselves and we will be back.
