On wearing a heart monitor and not being afraid to question your treatment and care
Oh hi it’s Tracey I have haven’t really explained this for ages as I keep forgetting. I just wanted to tell you that my health has had a few health problems even though I have been quite busy as I have been doing my activist work as well and I had to wear a heart monitor over the past 6 days and take it back last week because I had a little triage , a little stroke in September so the stroke consultant who I’m under as well as my dementia consultant wanted to make sure why I am having these little spells . So I had a little monitor that sits on my chest which is held on by gel pads and then wires go under my bust and that wasn’t to bad. So the first night of wearing it had its problems in the shower , it made me quite stressful with the wire coming out of the monitor and then I thought there’s no one picking up the readings ,I can’t do the stress so I rang the hospital and they told me to put microporous over it to keep the wire attached to the monitor so I did that and then the wire at night time I fidget quite a bit . I kept pulling the wire out this microporous being put in is so stressful wearing this simple thing and I found it over 6 days in the end I put loads of tape to attach the wire to my skin and replacing it every day and I had a reaction to the gel pads which the monitor was attach it made most of my skin itch and I tried not to scratch it and after 6 days I had to return the monitor and thankfully everything will be find and lucky I am the ball because I had a letter come through this morning asking me for a echo cardiogram and I remember already having one in the beginning of November so when I rung she said “ oh you think you have, I don’t think you would have had to repeat it” as if I was , had my memory was wrong . So she checked the computer and said “ you have had a echo cardiogram, oh we will cancel that one then “ it really annoys me that people , I know I know where I have been and haven’t been and don’t know why people have to querie it. Well that’s enough from me… bye now.
