Jacqui describes some great support during a visit to the audiologist.

Hello, it’s Jacqui from Stockport, near Manchester.

Well, I had the appointment yesterday to go to audiology at the physical hospital, and I was so nervous that I might say the wrong thing and get them off track and thinking a different thing about my diagnosis, so I was a bit nervous. Then the taxi; they have a school run at that time. So, I had to go in an hour before the appointment, but I’d rather gone by taxi than the buses because the bus route has changed, I didn’t wanna to get more stressed. So, I got there, and the lady said, obviously, you know that you are now early, and I said yes, and I told her why. She was rather so nice at the reception; usually people say, you’re too early. Do you know you’re early? Well, she didn’t do that; she was nice. So, I went down to the waiting room, and I just sat thinking I would sit for an hour, but it wasn’t long, and the lady called my name told me to come in over there.

And I did, and she said, well, the lady who is supposed to be coming now is late, and you still waiting, so I’m gonna take you. Ah, that’s a nice surprise, and she asked me questions, did some tests; she was ever so nice. When she finished, she said to me, hey, are you going to go home by taxi, or have you got someone? No, I said I will go by taxi home; the bus routes are too confusing now, and she continued to ask me, where are you going to get the taxi? and I said, well, I always go back to the main reception. No, he could come to the door to the passage, and I will show you. You see, if you go up there, you turn right, and you go there, that’s the maternity section. There’s a free phone, and there’s, um, [inaudible], you know, like a little taxi there, and you can phone for taxi there. [inaudible] lavender Japanese technical tea, so I was in and out and back home before the rush. What a lovely lady she was.
