“People we never see from one end of the year to the other suddenly turn up in gangs and start fussing over us”

By Tommy Dunne

“Holidays can be a very strange and confusing time for us people with dementia. People we never see from one end of the year to the other suddenly turn up in gangs. And start fussing over us, telling us how great we look. And all the time looking at the clock and the door ready to go. Want to take a picture of themselves with you to prove that they visited and then they’re off as fast as they can exit.”
