The political events of this week find Melvyn with revolution on his mind….and a lovely report on the state of play in the garden, and Ratty continues to evade him.

Hello, it’s Melvyn here. I just thought I’d make a little call. Weather’s been horrendous just lately, so very cold, and cold winds.

The garden’s not looking at its best, but I must say, my wisteria – it’s a tree, it’s not one that goes climbing. It’s about two metres tall and oh, the smell I get in the mornings, it’s absolutely fabulous. It’s in my front garden, and I’ve got a couple of windmills out there, they’re like ballerinas, one goes one way and one goes the other on the same pole. The amount of people that stop and watch and look. I’ve got my long grass, the meadow grass, in the front garden. It’s as high as my fence, so it’s about two foot six, some of the grass. And the amount of birds and butterflies, ladybirds getting all the bugs and stuff, all the blackfly. Yeah it’s been really nice. Could be better if we’d had a nice bit of warm weather, but who’s to complain? It’s better than lockdown innit. So.

Hope everyone’s feeling OK. Story about Ratatouille. Still got him in the garden. He really is a big old rat. I stayed out a couple of nights just recently, two lots of two nights, two hours each, so four hours I stayed out trying to catch- shoot this rat. Because I’m going to shoot it. So, but no – no sign of him, he must know I’m about, so. He’s really crafty. Anyway. I hope people have bought this Time and Place poem book. It really is good. Loads of nice poems in it. It’s all people with dementia. Absolutely fabulous, everyone involved. Roll on perhaps another book with poems. That would be nice. Nice if we could do another one. Perhaps not.

Seen Dominic Cummings today, talking about how horrendous the government is, the lying Nick Hancock, completely horrendous and disgusting, all a lot of spivs, lying, telling untruths and completely, completely out of order. I only wish that – we need a steep curve in politics, get rid of all what’s in there at the moment. Labour, and the whole lot, get rid of them, Lords, and just start again. I know the young people won’t put up with it any longer. I was talking to a young lady on Saturday, which is our Dementia Week here. She’s all for revolution. So, yeah, so am I.

So anyway, I’m going to say goodbye now. I hope everybody’s OK, and keep doing the good work DEEP, and just like to say cheerio to all my friends. Goodbye.
