“It’s a huge move forward to involve service users in designing a new facility”

“I’ve been to a series of meetings in the past two days or so. I found them very interesting. One of them was to receive and to give feedback about a new dementia care home. It’s all looking very promising, we’re getting lots of very positive feedback from that. Mine, obviously, was very positive. So that aspect of the event was great. We are still waiting to see all of the responses from the businesses that were involved.
The other meeting I went to was about the future of dementia services in Liverpool. It was for them to ask us to be involved in the development of a new facility for people living with dementia. It probably going to be working alongside them to ensure that a view of somebody living with dementia is taken into consideration. So, it’s really exciting! And, it means that we can hopefully make a place of excellence for the future. And who knows, I might need to use it!
At the moment, it is mainly based in two areas of Liverpool, the North and South. There’s already huge changes in Aintree, in the North end of Liverpool. They’ve already built a new center there, and today’s meeting was about the design of another new dementia and elderly service in Liverpool. They are asking Tommy and I to be a part of that A huge move forward to involve service users in designing.”
