Frannie starts going to a new group in her area

I’m doing this diary because, yesterday I went to a new dementia club setting up in my area.

I live near a lake and around the lake there are several communities and many of them have people sadly living with dementia.

So the new club was specifically for people with dementia and their partners. We had more people than expected and in fact, it was a beautiful afternoon so we sat out in the sun and had a really lovely afternoon.

There were eight or nine people there and we will meet again next month and I think it will become more popular as it gathers people and more and more people hear about it.

The funding for this came because Dementia Matters in Powys had a bit of a grant, to do some pop up cafes, dementia cafes and they have managed to do about twenty nine within their space of time for funding which has been very successful.

Whether or not they manage to go on will be interesting because they’re all, like this one, in fairly remote villages.

Anyway, the one I joined will indeed go on because it’s supported by a local care assistant business which started up in the area. We have no facilities for caring in this area because Powys just cannot afford to fund them so nearly all of us have to go privately.

This new company which started, not long ago, is absolutely wonderful and as I’ve not long come out of hospital I have been using their service three times a week to help with all sorts of things.

So that’s it.
