Frannie describes the wonderful watercolours session she ran for the Seaton Tramway.

This is a Diary about going to the Seaton Tramway in July. I was invited by Steve Milton, to do with the ENLIVEN Project, a project to make places across the United Kingdom more user-friendly for people living with Dementia.
So my project was to go to the Seaton Tramway in Devon, not very far from where Steve Milton lives and we connected up together the night before and in the morning we went off to the Tramway and rode the Tramway, which moves at a snail’s pace through lovely Wetlands. It’s just a lovely area, full of birds and wildlife of all sorts and reed beds and it’s just thoroughly lovely.
Anyway, in the afternoon we arrived at this reed hut, a little way back from the Tramway. We set up to do a Painting with Frannie session and a group of people living with Dementia came from local villages all around to join us and ten people showed up in blazing heat, which we thought was very good. Some were carers, but mostly it was people living with Dementia.
We did a couple of hours of art with them and it produced an afternoon of beautiful pieces and of lovely peace and quiet in a glorious setting and I think the result was that people thoroughly enjoyed it, some were saying they had no idea they could paint like that and I’m very much hopeful that that sort of project will be sustained at the Wetland in the future, using local artists to help people along, to enjoy the pleasure of being able to express without words how they feel about things. So I was really happy to be involved in that project.
