Agnes talks about being very fortunate to be working side by side with ECRED. People living with dementia are at the heart of their research
Good morning everybody, its Agnes in Scotland calling. I just wanted to share with you about yesterday in Edinburgh University and take part in ECRED which I think stands for (don’t quote me on this!) Edinburgh Centre for Research in Education in Dementia (what a mouthful!) anyway, I am so fortunate, really blessed to be working with PhD students and people who are working and researching about dementia. You know, we work together, we listen to one another. They share their highs and their lows, and, we work side by side. They also share their frustrations; its clearly a tough life for them, I think. They make me feel young in spirit again, in their company. They are beautiful people and so ….., what smart minds they’ve got. It’s lovely to see the way they think and the way it all unfolds, they know what is really important and they have still got it and we are so fortunate in Scotland with these researchers, because they put the people with dementia at the heart of all this dementia research. I feel very privileged to do this, and to be, I don’t know, I get a lot out of it. I’m just saying. And, if you ever get a chance to be involved in research just go and see, have a go. It doesn’t happen overnight, this kind of relationship; we’ve grown together. We’ve been working now for two years together. Its so worth it, so, so worth it and to see that they are nearly at the end of writing the reports and its exciting. That’s all I wanted to say. I’m feeling good about it. Thank you. Bye
