Tracey’s thoughts on Wendy’s book

Oh hi, it’s Tracey.

I just wanted to.. just been reading the extract from Somebody I Used To Know by Wendy Mitchell and my take on it is that I feel the same. I feel the same that, you know, it’s exhausting having dementia. And then there’s, used to write a blog before my dementia and then, of course, sometimes my blog is my way of remembering because sometimes I won’t remember. I can, although my memory is not affected by my dementia today, I sometimes still don’t remember what happened three years ago or something so I can look back on my blog and think, oh did that happen, and those photographs I’ve taken that sort of thing.

And I never used to.. I could never understand Twitter before my dementia and yet I go on Twitter quite a lot because I now understand it better and also, as Wendy says, it’s like, you know, you don’t feel lonely, really, when you’ve got Twitter to talk to. If you can’t sleep at night there’s always somebody about to have a chat to and you’re never alone. There’s always, there’s somebody around who knows what you’re going through and that’s the best part. You know, you’re not, you know, on your own, ever. You’ve got somebody like Wendy or Dory, and other people, because other people out there understand that you have that anxiety, you have anxiety issues or, you know, you get fed up, you just want to hide away because dementia makes you really exhausted but you have to keep going because the more you keep going, the more you do, the more you do lots of things, it helps you keep dementia at bay.

So, what I’ve just read, I understand fully and I understand how I feel too. Anyway, I hope you have a good day. Bye now.
