Agnes talks about the need to be in control of her own care plan.

Good Morning Everybody,
It’s Agnes from Coatbridge. It’s Saturday morning.

Well, I’ve survived that long night, self-managing my pneumonia symptoms and one of the realisations that I’ve come to is that I’m OK as long as I’ve got knowledge and I’m in control, or I feel as if I’m part of my treatment plan. I use the term ‘plan’, the only plan I’ve got is the one I’m devising for myself because nobody has really written up a plan – or if they have, they haven’t shared it with me.

Anyway I just wanted to say that I’m getting the symptoms under control with the appropriate medication etc and the treatment. I’m not planning on being in bed, I’ve had my 24 hours in bed. I’m planning on gently getting up and being, what’s the word, being risk aware. So I’m very aware of the risks. I’m going to rest appropriately but I’m going to be out in the fresh air. I’m taking extra vitamin D and have been taking it for months, but there’s nothing like getting it straight from the rays of the sun.

Thanks for listening to my, I don’t know, pity party. Thanks for being part of it. I’m feeling much better. I’m in control, I’m in the driver’s seat, I know what has to be done. I’ve got things set out in place for that.

Take care everybody. I hope you have a good day.

Bye for now.
