The little things I use daily I am finding I am forgetting how to use them
Hello Dementia Diaries, its Carole here from down in Kent.
I’ve had … a bit of a bad week. Not terrible, just memory issues. I’ve found that … I’d done the hoovering the other day and I have a Dyson stick hoover, a broom hoover type, you know the one I mean…I hope. Anyway I’d done the hoovering around downstairs and I went out to the dustbin to empty the contents and I just looked at it and didn’t know how to empty it. And I just stood there and I thought ok, it’ll come in a minute, just be patient. And I stood there, and I stood there and I just could not work out, and then I saw this bright yellow kind of pull handle thing on the top and I thought, well that’s it, I’ve got to pull that. And I pulled it and I pulled it, and I pulled it and it came up a bit but it didn’t come all the way up. So I sort of came back in the house and as I walked through the back door, ping, it came back into my head, so I managed to go out and empty my hoover.
Yeh, so that was quite a shock to me cos I’ve had my hoover for many years and used it on a daily basis more or less but, so just another problem to get round, so what I’d done was I’ve got an address label now and I’ve put instructions on it, how to empty it and I’ve stuck it right on top of that bright yellow pull handle thingummy jig, and it fits nicely so that will help me now next time I do my hoovering.
And yeh …. I’m finding lots of little things like that, things that I use daily now I’m kind of forgetting how to use them, or what to do with them, or how to empty them, or how to open them. Just silly little niggly things but they all build up, and when you sit down and you start thinking about it, which I try my best not to do, you kind of realise that things are sort of rolling down that hill, gathering moss as they say.
So I just thought I would let you know … apart from that I’m brilliant …
So have a good day. The sun is shining brightly here and I’ve done two lots of washing so far and put them out and brought them back in all nice and dry, and ironed them. So that’s me done for the day, I’m just going to chill out and do a bit of knitting now.
So have a good day everybody. Love to you all. Bye.
