James wonders about the impact of dementia and COVID19 on relationships.
Good sunny afternoon, this is James. First of all, thank you for doing the job you’re doing.
I came across a word in a news thing I was reading, about relationships, and I thought back to the early 2000s when dementia wasn’t as well known as now. I personally know a few couples that broke up because they weren’t being diagnosed at that time and given a reason for their changed behaviour. So they split, or divorced, in fact it nearly happened to myself.
So, just wondering: are people more enlightened now, you get a quicker diagnosis, you can get support, and hopefully avoid a relationship breakdown.
I had another thought, I wonder if COVID-19 has caused relationship breakdowns, if people have dementia. I know it happens when people just can’t sort of live together, but I don’t know if there’s been any research into it, if having dementia makes a breakup more likely.
Bye bye.
