Jacqui describes the groundwork she is doing for her project.

Hello, it’s Jacqui, from Stockport, near Manchester.

Well, I’ve been doing a project and I thought to myself of an additional add-on part to this project that could be done, but we needed funds to get me to Singapore, because they use the same procedure of My Life, My Goals as we do in the UK. That’s the guidebook. So I was helped and we put through a submission application to be submitted for funding with the Dementia Trust, and unfortunately I didn’t get it, the funding, or even get to the second stage.

But, you know, in those few weeks of waiting, I bought a book on Singapore, I found out about the ticket that I wanted to fly with, I was looking at hotels, I looked through the little book of all the places that are nice to go to, I contacted Dementia Singapore and I looked at the programmes they are doing. What else did I do? I looked at all the food variations over there. What else did I do? I found somebody who would escort me to go over and, you know, be like my helper – I really – in my mind it started to pack my suitcase, so in reality I’ve done quite a lot of groundwork already, preparing, and I just havn’t got there, so maybe when the funding does come, from somewhere, I’ll already have done all the groundwork.

But it was exciting doing all that, looking on the TV, on – what do you call it? – the YouTube and looking at Singapore and all the things that I could research there, so anyway, I’ve done all the preparation, so we’ll see what happens. Something might just come out the blue!

Take care,
Bye bye.
