One of three powerful early morning recordings from Melvyn and Tally isn’t well

Hello, it’s Melvyn here erm… had a terrible weekend…erm…erm…from a point of view my dogs er woke up oh god on Saturday morning like you do and about…er…half past four/five. Made myself a cup of tea. I noticed that erm my Tally didn’t come and meet me and greet me just lay on the mat. And I knew I knew erm… I knew when I got up I looked at her and thought something was wrong and erm… yes there was. I had to phone the vets up, my vet, which I’ve been with fifty years, fifty two years, er and er they couldn’t come out. So erm I phoned another vet up and they come and pick him up so. It’s a vet I hadn’t been to – ever. So they come and picked him up because I haven’t got a car anymore and I can’t drive. Like people with dementia, happens. Anyway, I hopped on my bike, like you do, because that’s the only form of transport I’ve got. So erm I followed them down to where I thought the vets was, which is, eventually I found it, met up with my Tally in the vets. I’d gone out on the Friday night to a meeting with about the health service. The MP, our MP, Helen Whately who is completely devolve of any human… erm… and social… erm… all she knows is political and so cold and erm… unhelpful um… and I’m trying to find the right word and I can’t. It’s not coming to me. Cold [coughs], mean, meanness, I mean all these words. They’re not as strong as I’d like to say because my vocabulary is disappearing and…I can’t find the right word. Very cold and… distant. Evaded what her Government has done or hasn’t done in the NHS. And I say hetty her, well not hetty – but er trying to get the truth out her. And er I said to her you’re very political because she’s chair woman of this health group and erm I said she’s made it political by the fact she’s being she’s saying it’s a health meeting. And by god [laughs] the response I got. It was nil. She wouldn’t take up the last… wouldn’t take up anything that I said to her. Anyway, when I come back from the meeting my friends were so joyful for me and erm would say ‘ah have you been with them all day, every day, twenty four seven like?’
