Tracey reminds us just how much it takes out of her to take part. ‘I was quite poorly afterwards. Recovery can take quite a while’

Oh Hi It’s Tracey, erm I just wanted to say that erm last week there was a dementia diaries meeting in Birmingham and erm although I was looking forward to seeing everybody and meeting people I hadn’t met before and the whole shindig but I was also worried about how much it would take me to recover. Erm its a lot of stimuli for me really, going up there, new environment, new people erm and then coming back again and I was quite poorly really afterwards.

I came back and erm, I tried to do things, I find it hard to talk or walk really anywhere , and I, that’s normal for me for my dementia and the PCA, and erm on Thursday I slept most of the day, I thought that maybe I would do because that’s what happens to me.
I mean if I go to London for the day for anything that I am involved in then , then usually I have to have a day of rest afterwards but I didn’t have that luxury really in Birmingham, because we went up there I mean we went up there did most of the business and I had Tuesday, Tuesday morning off but then we were mostly busy in the afternoon and then on Wednesday morning and on Saturday so we never really had the time to completely, complete rest so erm it was only this week on Tuesday that I could actually go, walk and go into town and feel safe to do so, I did try and walk up to the pharmacy to get my medications on Monday but it was a bit dicey a couple of times, I was a bit wobbly, you know staggering around like I had been drinking.

I just wanted to say that is what happens with my dementia, unfortunately the recovery time can take a while it always shocks me, it takes such a long time for me to recover from a little journey where I sit like that erm anyway I hope you have a nice day, bye now.
