Hi its Glenda here,
I’ve been invited to Cardiff to speak on behalf of the ‘Dementia Welsh Speakers Trust’ and whilst making a few notes, I’ve come to realise how lucky I am to have the Services I need in the Welsh Language and I’ve also realized how little English I speak as Welsh is my first language.
I can go days without needing to speak English, the Services I use for example like going to the Doctors, ‘Dementia Go” everything I attend is in Welsh.
I’m so pleased about the invitation to go to Cardiff perhaps more people will understand Welsh is my first language, through my notes I’ve come to understand this myself and like I said sometimes I don’t have to speak English for days, when I go to see my English speaking Consultant we always have a healthcare with us to make sure that we understand each other, my English has deteriorated and I can find it really difficult speaking English in company.
I’m going to a ‘Deep’ meeting tomorrow in Bangor, my point is how lucky we are to be able to speak our own language.
