The Dr doesn’t always know best. Thank goodness Jacqui’s housmate can reassure!

Hello Diary, I’ve just been to the nurse for my BP, blood pressure review that I’ve had to have every two weeks for two months, this was the last time, and while I was there she said “hello, how are you” I said “I don’t feel too well”. “Oh she said, have you got a virus that’s going around? Well how should I know, I’m not the doctor am I? Anyway, she asked how I was and I told her my head was starting and this and that, so she took my blood pressure and she said yes it was fine, which I already knew because I had taken it before I went, although I had to wait for her for over half an hour. Anyway, then she says maybe we should get the doctor to give you a call, ask at reception, so I did. I’m just getting in at home and the phone goes and my friend Carol brings it right up to me, “oh it’s the doctor” so he says ”well, it could be the stress of Christmas” I don’t have stress over Christmas, “well, it could be the stress over”, I’ve forgotten now, something else but I’ve got but I don’t have stress for that, “well, oh it could be stress over this condition that you have”. I nearly dropped the phone. I mean it is Alzheimer’s Disease, young onset of Alzheimer’s Disease, that’s what it is. It’s not ‘that condition that you have’. No wonder he can’t help me if he can’t even say the words. ‘Oh’ he said, “we’re really busy right now over this Christmas period, so you need to book in and come and see me in two weeks. I thought “oh, brilliant, I’m not feeling well now, not in two weeks time”. Anyway I came in and I told Carol and she said “but Jacqui with chronic fatigue you often have days when you’re not feeling well”. “Ah yes” I said, I forgot. ‘Ah that feels betternow, now I know what it is”. Why didn’t he know? Well, I’ll just remember that I have chronic fatigue as well and the Fibromyalgia and I have Alzheimer’s Disease, not that condition that doesn’t want to be named. Anyway, we’ve still got a lot of education to do friends, bye bye.
