“The change means that more people will be able to have the care and support that they need”

– by Tommy Dunne

From April 2015 Care & Support in England is changing for the better. New Care Act will help make care and support more consistent across the country. New national changes are designed to put you in control of the help you receive. This isn’t just about your care and support, it will consider your well-being and what is important to you and your family. So you can stay healthy and remain independent for longer. Some changes will be introduced in April 2015 and others will come in next year in April 2016. In April 2015, the introductions will be a new national level of care and support needs to make care and support more consistent across the country. Support for carers, payment agreements for care homes and care costs. As part of the 2016 changes, there will be more financial help for those who need it the most. There will also be new forms of protection from unlimited care costs.

As people are now living longer and with a better quality of life. Care and support needs that they have now are different. Care and Support England have made changes to reflect this and a new Care Act has been passed to make sure care and support and the way we pay for it is clear and easier to access and is more consistent across the whole of England. The change means that more people will be able to have the care and support that they need. May it be from the council or other organisations in the community.Different ways to pay for care and support will be available across the whole of England. So people should not have to sell their home in their lifetime to pay for care. People who receive care and support from the council, will have more say over what sort of help they receive. There will also be more help available for people who give unpaid care and support to adult family members or friends and in 2016 (next year) financial support will be available to more people.
