Like the Queen – Nancy has 2 birthdays.

Hello, this is Nancy McAdam recording. I’m in the Life Changes Trust building on Sauchiehall Street with Philly Hare. She’s been asking me to look back on my memories; very difficult thing to do when you have dementia, because things kind of suddenly jump up at you, and then you don’t really know where to take it after that. So you’re left [inaudible] all the time. So anyway, has it been useful? I think so yes.
I remembered seeing a leaflet of Alzheimer’s Scotland, from years ago. It was all dirty and horrible but I bought it anyway, and it was giving you ideas of what to do if you have dementia.
And my ideas were go to do something that make your heart beat faster, and I’m a vegetable grower…that’s basically who I am. I grow vegetables, and I live on the Black Isle. And I love it so much, I really do. The scenery is wonderful. It’s a shame I don’t have a car, but the family are good actually and they take me to all kinds of things. Because you know I have a special birthday party, and because it’s in the middle of winter, it’s Boxing Day, I ended up having a birthday party at the time of year that summer’s coming. So we had birthday parties on I think it was the 6th of, June? No July, it was the 6th of July we had the birthday party. And since then, we’ve had my one, which was 69 and a half it was, so it wasn’t 70, but close enough, as far as I was concerned! And then we had my daughter Julie’s one. Then we had Scott’s one. That was fantastic Scott’s party, it was just lovely. And he wanted just family there, but there were friends there too. And then coming up, we have wee Susan’s family. So all my family, there’s two years between all of my family, and I’m just looking forward to Susan’s birthday party. But before that, I’m planning to go to Carcassonne, which is a medieval village in France. And that’s 6 weeks? I think it’s 6 weeks.
Anyway, I’ll stay at home for a couple of weeks and then I’ll be heading off to Carcassonne, I’ll let you know how I get on there!

Thank you, bye bye!
