Dory reflects on the things she has done since her diagnosis that she has never done before – like going on a big march in London!

Hi, this is Dory and it’s 11 o clock on Saturday night and I’ve just got home after a long day. Um 6 o clock start this morning and I’m feeling very proud of myself. I went on the ‘Put it to the People’ protest march in London today. I nearly didn’t go cos I was thinking, I wanted to go…I feel very passionately about it because I want the youth, and as well as my grandchildren, but I want all the youngsters to have all the freedom and being able to travel that, you know, our generation had.
But I was a bit worried about the crowd and the noise but I went with my friend and she said, you know, “if it is too much we will just step away from it”. It was such, it was such a lovely atmosphere there and I really, yes I managed quite well. I was a bit coming back on the coach because I just tired myself I suppose. But yes, brilliant day. And I feel I’ve achieved. I’ve never been on a protest march before.
So there was me doing the march today and Wendy Mitchell did the skydive. Well done Wendy. There was me worrying about going on the march and you’re jumping out of an areoplane! But yeah I feel we’ve both done well today.
As I say, I am tired. I’ve had a busy week. Dementia has been playing havoc with me I think. I went to Cardiff a day earlier than I should have done but I went with It’s Our Time and it was about ageing well and living the rest of your years well. Um but I went a day too early but they were very good. They put me up for an extra night in the hotel so I got 2 nights instead of one.
Yeah, so I thought I’d just do a diary about today because since I’ve got the diagnosis of dementia I’m doing all these things I’ve never done before. So, I’m tired so the words, I should probably have done this tomorrow but I’m just feeling it has been a great day and great atmosphere. Everybody is so friendly. I was, I’m really pleased I went down and lets hope this can make a difference! Ok, bye!
