Larry’s poem about worrying (or rather don’t)
Hello, this is Larry – Larry Gardiner, and I’m phoning in because I’ve been being worried and I’ve discovered a poem that I wrote a long time ago about being worried, and I’ve decided to take my own advice.
This poem is called ‘Changing Direction’.
Though we can’t cure desperation,
Worry misuses imagination.
No fear keeps us safe at night;
Fear just fuels further fright.
Inhibition never delivers peace;
Lack of it brings great release.
Imprisoning ourselves cannot set us free;
Shutting our eyes can’t help us see.
It’s not possible to just stand still;
Immobilising destroys our free will.
Kindness to others is only a part;
Kindess to self is truly smart.
Taking risks every day,
We live fully when we play.
There are no ‘must’ or ‘ought’ or ‘should’,
But only ‘can’ and ‘will’ and ‘would’.
Happiness comes from word plus deed.
Fulfillment comes from meeting need.
That’s my poem about worry. Bye-bye!
