Larry is remembering his friend, Sheila, with their jointly penned poem
Hello, this is Larry Gardiner. I’m in the middle of having a bit of a clearout and a downsizing-rehousing-giving-away-and-moving. And I ame across this poem, which I wrote with Sheila. Sheila’s dead now, unfortunately; I went with her – I went to her funeral. But we wrote this together in a sort of workshop where we were writing poems and making artifacts and things like that. So I’ll read you this. I’m really glad I found it. It’s called My Memory by Sheila and Larry.
She still remembers my birthday,
Although I often forget.
When I open my presents,
There’s the things that she’d like to get.
Oh, I hate organised people.
It feels like they’re organising me.
So now we send notes to each other.
Organisation – that’s the key.
I am so good at keeping secrets,
I just can’t remember why.
But sometimes I forget to get angry,
No matter how I try.
I think this poem is a lovely poem, and I enjoyed being with Sheila when she was alive and it’s been very nice to remember her now that she’s dead. Bye-bye.
