Agnes reflects on her TED talk
Good morning, my Dementia Diary pals. My pride, this is my new word, anyway it’s the morning after my Ted Talk. Its Agnes calling from Coatbridge. I’m doing a wee bit of reflection with my morning cup of tea on my Ted Talk yesterday. I want to say to people who are getting involved in talks, campaigning and activists and activism. For me I had a team behind me. First of all to get me there, Joanna PA who Hammond Care have provided, she was fantastic, organising my travel, someone to meet and greet me at the station. Thanks Joanna, it all went fantastic, fabulous. Rosemary my pal, my friend, she came as a personal support to me and made sure that I was watered, fed and home safe. And the home safe is very important and she does it with such flourish, you never know she’s there, and you never know that she is supporting me. She gave me extra technical support which we didn’t expect, clicker for the slides and making sure that I didn’t fall because the environment was not the best for my sensory challenges.
And you, my fellow Diarists, you were there, and you with me in spirit and you were behind me on the screen, as was the Zoomettes. I learnt lessons on the challenges to do this Ted Talk, I was outside my comfort zone. I wonder on reflection will Queen Margaret University learn lessons as well and look at it honestly and see what could have been done better and congratulate themselves on what worked. What else did I want to say? Oh, the event itself, great networking, learning lessons, meeting people outside dementia, sharing ideas, oh gosh so much learning that today I will reflect and write it down somewhere because I won’t remember it. It was a fabulous thing to do, it made me a better, more informed person and so thank you Queen Margaret University, all the people who were there. The only name I can remember was Brendan the professor. Thanks for my hug, I hope you enjoy your Talking Sense book. Bye everybody it’s a day of rest for Agnes, bye.
