Dory reads the poem Mother Mountain
Hi, this is Dory and it’s a very wet and windy morning. But I’d like to share a poem with you and it’s about… Well, there’s a mountain that’s local to me, it’s called Moel Famau, and I’ve walked up it lots of times and the heather and the views at the top are beautiful. And it’s a very well known mountain and it’s locally known as Mother Mountain. And this is where I would like to pass away from this world, under the stars. Anyway, here’s Mother Mountain.
Far beyond the satellite dishes and solar powered hard drives,
follow my gaze past the horizon to that old man
whitewashing the clouds with the fluff from his beard.
Look left and there’s his uncle sleeping on his back.
Watch the clouds scud across the sky as he breathes in and out.
Turn north and feel the force of time against your face
as it kisses your ears with the hopes of the silenced.
Listen to the years spinning in sympathy of heather
to the rhythm of the bee in his freshly dusted waistcoat.
Let me feed your curiosity with wild amethysts
and quench your thirst with droplets of discovery.
Climb upon my shoulders and I will show you the world.
I just wanted to share that, I think it’s beautiful.
Bye.
