Loving compassion has a role to play in maintaining dignity says Shelagh from her hospital bed.

Hello this is Shelagh Robinson
I’m in hospital at the moment I’ve had a knee replacement , it’s a big operation for me, and my son and daughter have been absolutely wonderful being with me. They come first thing in the morning and, and go at going out time.
And I was thinking, we talk a lot about dignity in alzheimer’s and how important it is and it certainly is.
During the few days that I’ve been in hospital, my son has been pulling my nighty up so I didn’t wet the back of it when I went to the toilet, pulling my knickers down, putting fresh pads in for me and there was no loss of dignity at all, because there was so much love and compassion with it and love and compassion.. don– doesn’t fit easily with loss of dignity, bye.
