Shelagh is wondering whether other diarists struggle with numbers and passwords.

Hello, it’s Shelagh Robinson here. I’m wondering if anybody else who does Dementia Diaries has the frustration with numbers and passwords that I do. Yesterday I ended up crying, sobbing, literally sobbing, and I’m not a great crier, as those who know me will know. Because all I wanted to do was to set up a standing order and I spent two hours and still couldn’t do it and eventually was told I’d tried so many times I couldn’t try again. And the same thing happened with trying to change my BBC passport – sorry, password. And again I was timed out; I was told I’d tried too many times. It seems to me that organisations have no idea of the problems that people who lack numeracy because of dementia, or perhaps for other conditions, have. And I’m almost ready to give up. I don’t know what I’m giving up, but it makes life so very, very difficult. I hate passwords and I hate numbers and I don’t think I’m alone. Bye!
