It’s a brave man that gets between Steve and his chips. Luckily Steve’s in forgiving mood.
Hello, it’s Steve Clifford.
Being a person of habit, Margaret and me always go shopping on Mondays and today was no exception.
We start by going to Aldi where we do most of the shop, then drive round to ASDA to top up with some bits and pieces. Usually this takes up to dinner time, and the ASDA cafe is always beckoning! So, having done the shop I took it back to the car and returned to the cafe where Margaret was just about to order. I sat down and was aware that there were new staff serving. Mar ordered a bacon bap and a a small plate of chips for me. It was 11.50am. “Can’t have chips”, the young man serving said. Margaret asked “why?” “Not 12 o’clock yet”. It was now 11.55.
This reminded me of a film with Kirk Douglas called “Falling Down” Now, if you haven’t seen this film then do so!
Kirk goes into a cafe, the time is 12.01 am – or pm. He asks for a full breakfast. The lady behind the counter says that they stoped serving breakfasts at twelve. The time was still one minute past. She flatly refuses to serve a breakfast saying that they are on the dinner menu. Now Kirk was having a bad day, looses his temper and says “it’s only one minute past”. She still refuses him the breakfast, whereupon Kirk pulls out a machine gun and sprays the cafe with bullets.
I, on the other hand, just sipped my cup of tea.
Thank you.
