Peter does a staggering amount of activities each day to keep exercising his brain
Hello, Peter Clark here,
Being accused of playing computer games all day, when I thought I was building my cognitive resilience, I thought I would list everything I do each day to exercise what’s left of my brain: 2 crosswords, 2 sudoku, 1 page of a Welsh-english dictionary and 20 pages of a novel, then on the computer 1 game each of minesweeper, solitaire, four suit spider solitaire, Tetris, 1-4 games of crib, 2 minutes mental arithmetic adding 2 or 3 random numbers, trying to remember 5 random words, trying to find the word linking 10 random sets of 3 words, correctly identifying the font colour of 24 misleadingly coloured words, 10-20 minutes on-line (duo-lingo) Welsh course, 10 minutes brain exercise on BrainHQ, 10 minutes practising BSL, 30 minutes Brain exercises from Protect, at least 4 wordles a day with at least 97% success rate, solving 1 FreeCell and scoring more than 12,500 on frogger. Then there’s 1 hour news gathering, 1 hour reviewing old diaries marking what I can visualise,1 hour sorting out my e:mail, keeping a diary, reviewing yesterday’s diary morning and evening (seeing if I can get anything to stick), and that is on top of my voluntary research activities!
