Carol tells us about testing an exciting travel app
Hi everybody, this is my dementia diary entry for the Monday the 23rd Of October. It’s Carol here. Just wanted to share what I did today. I met, in our local village hall, a lovely guy named “Will” , to do an update on the Public Transport App. project. An App is being developed to assist people with dementia to travel safely and with ease, using public transport. The app will, with your input, arrange the journey from your home to your destination point in easy to follow steps. The app will require a mobile phone. So, today I had a look at about six different screens, on a mobile phone, each of which I had to try out and explain what I understood about each screen. The journey starts at your home address and list any walking, public transport and rest periods. It includes a warning so, if you walk off the planned route, it lets you know. The app covers trains, taxi’s, busses and walking. It also has a reminder list which the user completes. A one hour warning, followed by a fifteen minute warning, for the user to check they have all they need for the journey. The user would put in the reminder list, all things they needed to take such as medication, keys, money etc etc. I had great fun today and have high expectations for the future app. Tomorrow will be a busy day. I’m off to London for a “Service User Review Panel” review so I will speak more about this in the next couple of days. Thank you for listening to my diary entry. Take Care. Bye.
