Dory talks about a series of losses for her friends going in to care
Hi, this is Dory and um I hope I’m not breaking any confidences here but I won’t mention any names or places but I just… makes me feel very sad really that um a couple of ladies I have grown very fond of both in sort of late, not too late stage of dementia, but um their partners have been carers and um they come to a place where we go and we’ve all grown very fond of each other and they love coming because they’ve made so many friends there. Now these two people have lost their partners who were carers and so they’ve had to go into a care home, full time care, and because they’re in full time care, they can’t come to the day care any more. So I just feel it’s really unfair because they’re losing three things – they’ve lost their partner, they’ve lost their home and they’ve also lost their group of friends and that support. I know they probably will make more friends but we’re such a small, little group and I just feel it’s so unfair really that they are not allowed um because of the council or the rooms, that they can’t come any more. So I just thought I’d report that, but as I say, I hope um I’ve not broke any confidences but it has made me quite sad and annoyed at the way that works. Ok, bye.
