Agnes joins in the discussion about Incontinence

Good afternoon it’s Agnes from Scotland again. I’ve just been on Twitter there and heard Teresa responding to Carol about continence issues and I just wanted to join in the conversation if you don’t mind Teresa and Carol. I too have issues with doubly incontinence and erm, you know they never really went into the reasons why it was happening I just got the continence service nurses in to see me, they listened to what was happening, some of the ways it was happening etc and then prescribed pads for me, appropriate pads for the various things. Again, I think this comes back to erm, like you said Teresa, is it the signals, is it not going to the brain in time to get the muscles, or in time, or in the case of the faecal incontinence is it the brain signals are not getting the muscles to work approppriately for evacuation. I really dont know, it doesn’t happen all the time, I have no idea when or how it happens so it’s back to self management techniques and again this is something that I’ve got to be aware of, sometimes I forget , and erm then I’m given a very, reminder, but erm so yeah its back to managing these issues. Not being downhearted and that’s why like the dementia diaries because a problem shared is a problem halved, a challenge shared is a challenge halved and sharing tips and [inaudible] gives us a solution to how to live positively, hopefully with your challenges. Thanks a million Carol and Teresa take care and I hope you have a lovely rest of your afternoon bye for now!
