“Since I got diagnosed, I feel more on the edge to write music”
– by Paul Hitchmough
“The song we recorded, which is on Youtube and it’s called ‘The Same Man’, it has quite a lot of followers now, I think a way over 2,000.
Being an amateur musician I approached our group to sing some background vocals when we recorderd the song, which they did, and they were all fantastic. Everybody seemed to like it.
We decided to put it onto Youtube and sell the CD which has 2 songs on it off the strength of that one which is what we did. We raised over 1,100 pounds now towards the Alzheimer’s research. Our target is 2,000 pounds. I’ve decided in the future to go back into the studio when we’ve done all our songs and record my own stuff and take it from there and see what happens with it.
Since I got diagnosed, I feel maybe 20-25% more on the edge to write music and do songs, it’s very much a deed at the front of my mind all the time. I’ve also been asked to do some music for a fashion show which is to do with Alzheimer’s, in 12 months time, so I’m really looking forward to doing the music for that and once I know the theme, I’ll take it from there and kick home with that one.”
