Jacqui reports from a residential mindfulness course

Hello diary, its Jacqui, I’ve just come back from a 3 day Christian mindfulness course in Grange-over-Sands at the Thornleigh Christian Hotel.

Well, it was so brilliant, the people were so friendly, we were like a big family, and it was about 20 of us. Kathy Ward took the course for 3 days and she has such life experience that she could share with us and I told the people that I have Young Onset Alzheimer’s and people were very interested at breakfast and dinner, asking me questions about dementia.

I had a great audience who listened and were respectful but they were quite amazed that I could catch a train and come up to Grange-over-Sands and be in hotel on my own and walk around on my own and then catch two trains back to Manchester and another one back to home town of Bradbury. They were quite amazed, “if you’ve got dementia – how can you do this?” So that opened up more conversations to explain that we can do things even if we have dementia. It doesn’t mean to say that we just can’t do anything, that we adapt, that we have strategies for living and people were ever so open and interested.

So bye, bye now everyone, take care, bye bye.
