Melvyn is awestruck by the BBC programme Our Dementia Choir.

Hello. It’s Melvyn here. I haven’t done a recording for a while, but I just had to ring in because I’ve just been watching…it’s Called Our Dementia Choir, with Vicky McClure.
It’s been absolutely inspiring, and I often say on my diaries that they are fantastic people, people with dementia have got. Absolutely brilliant. I’ve been tearful all the way through because I…
They’re absolutely fantastic people, incredibly, incredibly fantastic.
Erm. Well, I’ve been blown away, and what a fantastic programme. And I look forward to the next one next week. And oh the people in it, the guy who’s doing the…leading the choir, and showing them what to do – he’s been incredible as well.
How he deals with them and how they respond to him and their stories. How young some of them are. Oh…my god.
I’m trying to find a word that – to sum it all up. Awe-inspiring, with love, and their memories that they have got and the people round them, their families, it’s just beautiful.
That sums it up. It was beautiful. It was – I had tears in my eyes, because I am a man – as you probably know – I don’t know most people that know me…I do get…emotional. But WOW.
That was incredible.
I know I keep repeating myself, but that’s what you do when you get dementia.
I just think of all the people that are involved, and are involved with me, and sort of…since being diagnosed with dementia. And my opinion doesn’t change.
And I mean, the two Rach(a)els and Philly Hare and all the people in DEEP
I’m this on television – it’s Vicky McClure. Outstanding, beautiful, sad, inspirational. They’re the words I wanted to say, and I thank you to allow me to speak on Dementia Diaries, it’s an honour and a pleasure.
That inspired me.
I haven’t been able to do any writing and poetry since my wife’s death – I haven’t been able to. I started to do bits, but it’s gone again, but that was inspiring.
Ah well, I’m going to go now. Bye.
