Melvyn’s had an interesting experience whilst sunbathing.
Hello it’s Melvyn here, I haven’t done a diary for quite a while now.
I had a very embarrassing moment on Wednesday that I’d like to talk about.
I went to the Sunshiners on Wednesday afternoon, but before that, obviously, I get up, did my exercises, blah blah blah, took the dogs out. It was a lovely, lovely morning, and come back and made myself a coffee. It was about half past ten so, half past ten, eleven o’clock and they weren’t picking me up til one o’clock so I thought I’d go and sit out in the garden as it was so lovely, it was a sunny sunny day, warm.
I went out and sat on my two lounge chairs, which rocking, they rock. So you can imagine I was having my coffee and my dogs were with me, they had come out with me, like they do. I’d already taken my top off, on my upper body, I took my tee shirt as it was so hot, and I thought, as my garden is enclosed, no one can see. So I thought it wouldn’t hurt if I stripped off – completely. So I was nude in the garden, as you do. It was only the second time I’ve ever done it. So, I thought ‘why not?’ So I went starkers!
Anyway, I was stroking the dogs as you do, sipping my coffee and all of a sudden I heard this commotion next door. I’m semi detached but it’s not on the semi detached side it was my next door neighbour who is detached. And I heard a commotion and the next thing you know my next door neighbour is climbing over her back gate. Her gate is as high as my fence so she started to climb over the gate so she can unlock her back door. Because she had forgotten her keys, unbeknown to me, she’d forgotten her keys, got locked out but had some keys to the back door. She started climbing over the gate, she looked over and I was starkers. And she said ‘Oops!, I’m trying to get over the gate because I’ve locked myself out’ and I was absolutely flabbergasted!, a 40 year old woman looking at a 70 year old wrinkly, …old age pensioner, and she knows I’ve got dementia…….so you can imagine what the sight was!
I pulled my Bonny to me, one of my dogs, my greyhound, to try and cover myself up, and Oh dear, what must she think of me? I’d like a response from some of the other people out there, with dementia, about it, because, as you do, that’s how I am, I’m sorry but that’s how it happened.
Well, I just feel embarrassed about it, and I wonder how some of the other people who have got dementia would feel? Oh my God!
I’m going to finish this audio and then I’m going to get back
bye…..
