Julie wonders what will happen if her dementia progresses.

Hello, this Julie Hayden from YODA,
I recently read a blog by xxxxx on hallucinations in dementia being due to sensory changes. I have severe balance problems which I never thought of in terms of this type of hallucination until now. By balance I do not mean dizziness although this can be a result, but the sensation of the ground buckling and wheeling under me however solid the surface, constantly trying to knock me off my feet, rather like the old fashioned fun houses at fairs and amusement parks. This experience is explained perfectly by Agnes Houston in her book ‘ Talking Sense’.
Currently I am able to reassure myself that this is not happening, but what will happen as my dementia progresses as I am no longer able to apply this reasoning or to explain to carers what is happening and why I am reluctant to walk or to transfer to another chair
I have no doubt that I will be quickly labelled as difficult or uncooperative. With the carers in residential nursing homes changing with rapid frequency how will they manage my so called challenging behaviours?
I fear it will be left to restraint, both physical and chemical.
