Melvyn talks about the recent award to the Forget me Not Group

Hello its Melvin here, um I’m still alive (Melvin laughs) I just wanted to say that um the Forgetmenots were lucky to um get a award, I don’t know who by or who its from probably the Alzheimer society I don’t know. It was for Allies group that supports people that have been diagnosed with dementia and go and speak to them and assist them in any way possible and um its really a fantastic group um and although we haven’t had many, hopefully after Christmas it will be promoted a little bit more so that we can get to the people that need.. need our help so so much.

When your first diagnosed um those people out there who have dementia who where told will understand what I’m saying um that it was a crushing blow when being told that you got dementia and all the help possible, um perhaps not right on the day perhaps just a week or a couple of weeks later you need, when its sunk in that’s when, that’s when its at its .. i’m not going to say at its worst cause its at its worst everyday but um that’s when you need help. You need help from people from any source and um to be able to talk to someone whose got dementia and to assist in possibly um in well in anyway possible that is needed and carers, and sometimes the person hasn’t got a carer and they’re the ones that I really would like to get to.
Um but anyways um Annmarie ahh Chris was there and Keith I think it was Phil from um and it was apparently.. it was really lovely they went to this hotel up in London and um it was really.. they had a meal and all this but oh I’m not, not into that all that but um it was you know really worth while and I congratulate, OK that’s that.

I’ve had this horrendous bug I’ve had it for about three or four months now and um I’ve had three lots of four well four lots of penicillin three lots of steroids now and hopefully that’s gonna be the end of it, um I feel a bit better now its been horrendous it keeps coming back and um its one horrendous virus um couldn’t breath had to call the ambulance out about two or three weeks ago and um well at half past one in the morning but there you go, that’s the way life is ain’t it, just got to get on with it.

I just wish I had someone here with me when I wasn’t well but hey ho that’s life and that’s the way.. that’s the way it is I’m afraid. But um yeah I’m hopefully getting back to some sort of order and hey ho happy days. Its a beautiful morning, beautiful cold morning here in Kent and um I’m just going to take my dogs out for a little walk um I’ve had to curtail some of that as well, love them.. they’ve been very understanding and um I’ve managed to feed them OK which is the most important thing um so anyway, happy days.
Bye
