Gail is finding the world a noisy place after the peace of lockdown..
Hi, it’s Gail.
I’ve been thinking about the opening up of the lock down and how people with dementia are coping and for me, being able to see family and friends and meet up outside has been brilliant; cos it’s given me a chance to see my parents again and my children and my grandchildren. But the opening up of the actual outside world…It’s not appealing to me at all.
I’m still doing my same routines of going to the park, and going to the nature reserve, and the beach. And I’m still doing that. I’m not going any further, I’ve not entered into the shops of clothing and unessential items. I only go into the supermarkets. It makes me nervous thinking about the crowds of people, the noise of the traffic. The noise of the people and the crowds, and the screaming children. And it just doesn’t appeal to me. I’ve been quite content in my own little world I suppose; and it’s been a quiet little world and it’s been a, it’s been very quiet in my head so I can figure things out easier. If there’s too much noise it makes it more difficult to figure things out and work things out. There’s more confusion.
So for me I think it’s going to take a little time to get back out into the hustle and bustle of the outside world. So I’m still sticking to the quiet, peaceful bubble of my world.
Thank you for listening to me and I hope you are enjoying your day wherever you are. Thank you.
