Steve has a bad experience in DIY store
Hello it’s Steve Clifford, this is the first report in the new diaries, and after a tremendous meeting in Birmingham where we met old friends and made many new, it was exhilarating, And Rachel and Philly did a tremendous job keeping us all in order.
My story today is quite sad, Margaret and I went into a local B and M shop where we some items for our newly fitted out bathroom, the total came to about £150, or so I thought. We got to the till and I paid by card, but opening my wallet I have a dementia card showing quite visibly, anyway the cashier an elderly lady, said “that will be £150”. Jokingly I said “what, how much?” she then said, “I can make it £500 if you want”, and smiled. A card payment made and she handed me a receipt, I thought nothing of it, we began to walk away from the till, Margaret took the receipt and said – “she’s charged you £250”, I just couldn’t believe this. We went back to another cashier and spotted the mistake and refunded us the £100. We put the items into the car and I began becoming really really upset, had this woman seen my dementia card and decided to take advantage? I really don’t know. Good job Margaret was on the ball and also with me, had I been on my own I would never have known.
However the bathroom looks fantastic, so all is well here in sunny Stockport. Thank you.
