Should we be offered remuneration for taking part?
Hello it’s Jacqui. Well I am a member of Educate, which is a group at the Meadows at Offerton in Stockport. I have just been started to be asked to accompany Mark to train at different venues. And I have asked whether there would be any renumeration for my last talk for end of life and for the one I’m doing at the end of the month. And I’m told that there is no budget. So their talks are free of charge. I am a bit confused because I thought that Educate was part of DEEP and DEEP groups would get some funding from various organisations. I understand that as people living with dementia that we like to go out and help other people and spread the word of how it is to live with dementia. On the other hand I feel that our efforts should be appreciated and even a small amount would show some appreciation. Now I wonder what the other Diarists think. I know that most of them are in a DEEP group. Do all DEEP group members go out and do everything free of charge, or is there some kind of token of appreciation given? I’d like to hear from others. Thank you, bye bye.
